Temple Emanu-El Marblehead
Bat Mitzvah / Bar Mitzvah
Temple Emanu-El from
Photographer’s point of view:
General experience
We’ve worked here about dozen times, and never had any sort of unpleasant experience.
Staff
Extremely cooperative Rabbi David J. Meyer always ready to help, he is also totally aware of the importance of photography and knows how to pose, etc. Other staff also always nice, understanding and helpful.
PLANNING TIPS
Since we live less than 10 minutes from the temple, we always ready to meet with family before the Big Day to discuss all possible details. On the day of the ceremony, the Temple allows family and photographer to come beforehand and do all formal pictures with Torah, Rabbi, etc. Usually, we have enough time to do all group formal shots in the hall or outside, as well as a short solo session for Bat Mitzvah girl or Bar Mitzvah boy.
At this temple, the photographer is not allowed during the service, so all shots with Torah and Rabbi should be made beforehand. Then the photographer has a couple of hours for traveling to the reception venue or can change batteries, backup files from memory cards, etc. if a reception will take a place at the temple.
Photo opportunities
Literally limitless. Photographer can work outside (beautiful doors, steps, trees, a lawn in front of the temple, also green area behind the temple with the photogenic tree and colorful bushes), or inside in the hall with enough amount of natural light and space for big groups, and inside of recently fully remodeled sanctuary.
Also with proper planning, you always can find a few extra minutes and go to Marblehead parks or beaches nearby.
